Frequently asked questions.

What is the role of the Chaplain during the Immersive Session?

Think of the Chaplain as your sacred witness and steady presence. I’m not here to analyze or fix you—I’m here to hold space with deep reverence, compassion, and grounded care. During the immersive session, I tend to the energy and the environment, helping to create a safe container where your experience can unfold naturally. I don’t steer the journey; I simply stay present with whatever arises, like a calm, loving anchor in the room. You may be listening to music, wearing an eye mask, or deep in your own inner galaxy—and I’ll be there, holding the space quietly while your inner wisdom leads the way.

What’s the difference between this and psychedelic therapy?

Psychedelic therapy is clinical—focused on treatment, often with a medical diagnosis involved. What I offer is spiritual care. Chaplaincy doesn’t pathologize your experience—it honors it. We don’t focus on fixing what’s broken. Instead, we hold space for what’s emerging. This is care for your soul, your story, and your wholeness. It’s relational, reverent, and rooted in presence. You’re not a case to solve—you’re a being to witness.

Is this safe for first-timers? What if I’ve never done psychedelics before?

Absolutely. Many of the folks I work with are exploring psychedelics for the first time. You don’t need to have any experience—just a genuine openness to slow down, turn inward, and meet yourself in a new way. We’ll spend time preparing together so you feel safe, supported, and spiritually grounded. This work is gentle, intentional, and infused with deep care. Whether it’s your first time or your soul is simply ready to listen again, this is sacred space for your unfolding.

Will you provide the psilocybin?

Nope. The Chaplain does not supply or administer any psychedelic substances. If you choose to work with psilocybin, it’s your responsibility to source it safely, mindfully, and in alignment with your values. During our preparation time, we’ll talk about your options and make sure you’re informed, comfortable, and empowered to make the right decisions for you.

Where do you offer this work?

I offer in-person Immersive Psilocybin Sessions within a two-hour radius of New York’s Hudson Valley—including metro NYC, western Connecticut, and eastern New Jersey. Sessions are held in your home, studio, or another agreed-upon sacred space that feels good to you. Live farther away? Let’s talk—we can explore thoughtful travel options with flexibility and care.

All preparation and integration sessions are done virtually via Zoom so we can stay connected wherever you are.

Is this legal?

Psilocybin is still federally restricted, but the tide is turning. States like Oregon and Colorado have led the way with decriminalization and legal access in supported settings. The FDA has called psilocybin a “breakthrough therapy” for treatment-resistant depression, and clinical research is growing fast. While this work exists in a legal gray area, we operate with transparency, spiritual integrity, and a whole lot of care. You’ll never be advised to break the law. What we focus on is creating a sacred, ethical space for inner transformation.

Is this work right for everyone?

This work is powerful and sacred—but it’s not for everyone. It’s not recommended for folks with a personal or family history of psychosis, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia, or those currently in psychiatric crisis. You’ll also want to be emotionally grounded and have a stable support system. If you’re unsure, let’s talk. We can explore whether this path feels aligned for you right now—or later on down the road. This is about honoring the whole of you, with honesty and love.

What does psilocybin feel like?

Like stepping into the great unknown of your own being—curious, expansive, and alive with possibility. Psilocybin journeys can feel dreamy, emotional, visually rich, or deeply spiritual. Some people feel connected to nature, their inner child, or a sense of divine presence. Others experience waves of laughter, release, tears, wonder, or insight. It’s not always easy, but when held with care, even the tough moments can become portals for healing and growth.

How long does a psilocybin journey last?

A psilocybin trip usually lasts around 4 to 6 hours, but the felt experience can ripple out much longer. You’ll typically begin to feel the medicine within 30 to 45 minutes. The most intense part—or the peak—lasts about 2 to 3 hours, followed by a gentle landing phase. After that, many people describe a beautiful afterglow—a time of soft openness and clarity. It’s best to clear your schedule, let the day unfold slowly, and plan for rest and nourishment afterward. You’ll be journeying through time in your own sacred rhythm.
